ARTIST INFORMATION SHEET
Glass is a passion, it is fluid and
organic it has texture and endless possibilities. Using outside influences and
an a.d.d. internal clock, the glass tells me what to do. With the use of traditional glass tools we
attempt to create objects that are a pleasure to experience personally or in
your home. In the creating process we use many different types of glass, varying
in both a rainbow of colors and textures.
From the first design ideas to the last
finishing steps, we both work on each and every piece to emerge from our very
small studio. We both have the skills
necessary to do any job that is required to complete the creative process,
whether it’s a unique piece of jewelry or a one of a kind kitchen accent. Collaboration
is the perfect word for the environment that has developed over the course of
our time working together.
Our
technique comes from a policy of ‘Trial by Fire,’ a good piece of glass is
a gift. It is a personal reflection of a
moment in time, a feeling or a dream, it
is an art form that speaks to the artist as well as the collector.
Each piece of our personal or home jewelry is individually made of between three and five layers of differing glass. It's the colors and textures of each layer that makes the piece unique. The design is then placed in a glass kiln and fired for several hours then anneals (cooled) slowly to add to its strength and durability.
